Julie began her career with Choose Lansing in January 1993. She graduated from Alma College in Alma, Michigan. Julie worked for the U.S. Travel & Tourism Administration within the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C. prior to joining the Choose Lansing. After 27 years at Choose LansingTM, in 2020, she was selected to become the President and CEO. Julie is a Certified Destination Management Executive (CDME), Certified Meeting Professional (CMP), and a Certified Tourism Ambassador (CTA). Julie loves being involved in the community and is proud to serve on a number of local boards and organizations throughout the region, including the Potter Park Zoological Society Board, the Arts Council of Greater Lansing, and the Lansing Rotary Club. Julie was recognized through ATHENA Lansing with receiving the ATHENA Leadership Award as the 2023 recipient. The ATHENA Leadership Award honors individuals who strive towards the highest levels of professional accomplishment, excel in their chosen field, have devoted time and energy to their community, and pave paths for other women to follow.
Sheri Jones, the seasoned and highly esteemed 5, 6, and 11 o’clock news anchor for WLNS TV 6 in Lansing, has built an impressive career spanning 35 years. Her outstanding contributions to broadcasting have earned her a well-deserved place in the Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame, solidifying her status as a respected journalist. She is a revered inductee of the Michigan Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame and is a member of the Silver Circle with the Michigan chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Her commitment to excellence has also garnered her Emmy nominations and accolades from the Associated Press and the Michigan Association of Broadcasting. Sheri is not just a news anchor; she is a dedicated journalist, a global ambassador, and a compassionate advocate, leaving an indelible mark on both the field of journalism and the communities she serves.
