LANSING, MI — The Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce (LRCC) has launched a dedicated webpage to assist businesses in understanding and adapting to significant changes in Michigan’s paid sick leave and minimum wage requirements. These new regulations, resulting from a recent Michigan Supreme Court ruling, will take effect on February 21, 2025, and are expected to impact businesses of nearly every size.

The LRCC’s Paid Sick Leave & Minimum Wage Update page offers comprehensive resources for employers to prepare for these changes. This includes an Action Center, where businesses can participate in advocacy efforts for legislative adjustments in Michigan, as well as tools and information to ensure compliance.

“Our goal is to support our members and the broader business community during this complex transition,” said Steve Japinga, Senior Vice President of Public Affairs at LRCC. “We are committed to providing the resources and guidance necessary for employers to navigate these challenges while advocating for pragmatic solutions that benefit Michigan’s business climate.”

As part of these efforts, the LRCC has hosted three seminars on the new rules through the LRCC Policy & Regulatory Business Education Series, in partnership with Choose Lansing and presented by Foster Swift. These sessions have provided actionable insights for employers to remain compliant and informed.

The final seminar in the series will take place December 9, 2024, from 10 to 11 a.m. via Zoom. This virtual event offers a convenient opportunity for businesses to engage with experts and gain critical knowledge. To register, please visit the LRCC events page at www.lansingchamber.org/events.
